MATERIAL UTOPIA IS A SERIES OF PROJECTS THAT EXPLORES THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SPACE AND ENVIRONMENT THROUGH THE MEDIUM OF MATERIAL. THE INTERACTIVE MODEL IS A COMBINATION OF ICE CUBES AND PLASTER. THE COFFEE ICE CUBES, THOUGH NO LONGER VISIBLE, LEAVE TRACES OF THEIR PRESENCE VIA NEGATIVE SPACE AND COFFEE STAINS. THIS PROCESS OF SIMULTANEOUS HEATING AND MELTING IS LINKED TO NATURAL PROCESSES OF TIME. THE FOLLOWING SERIES OF DRAWINGS IS A CONTINUATION OF THIS EXPLORATION OF MATERIAL AND ENVIRONMENT. EACH DRAWING IN THIS SERIES CAPTURES A MOMENT IN TIME IN WHICH THERE IS SIMULTANEOUS GROWTH AND DECAY. THE HUMAN MADE GRID FRAMEWORK TRANSFORMS AS NATURE FILLS IN THE GAPS OF THE GRID.
